REV. FR. CHANDRA FERNANDO

Father Chandra Fernando, a native of Batticaloa, was ordained a priest in 1972  for the diocese of Batticaloa. He had his Theological studies at Sacred Heart Seminary, Poonamallee, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India. He was a person of bridge builder among the various communities in Batticaloa. He was also a powerful voice of Justice during the troubled times. He was serving as the Parish Priest of Saint Mary’s, Batticaloa. It was there that he was called to make a supreme sacrifice of his life. The assassin fired multiple shots at him and he struggled so hard that his blood was strewn all over the wall of his parish house. May he rest in peace!
